Justice Prakash has had an extraordinary legal journey — from starting her career under the legendary David Marshall, to breaking multiple glass ceilings and shaping Singapore’s judiciary. Appointed to the Supreme Court Bench in 1992, she made history in 2016 as the first woman appointed to the Court of Appeal.
Over her remarkable career, she has authored more than 600 judgments, mentored generations of lawyers, and paved the way for women in law. In this candid conversation, Justice Prakash reflects on her early years working with David Marshall, finding her voice as one of few women in the profession, and the defining moments that shaped her career. She also shares insights on building resilience in a demanding field, as well as her thoughts on mentorship, purpose, and empowering the next generation of women lawyers.
