But his story isn't just about MMA victories. Jose has a rich history in the sport, from his earlier days in Titan Fighting Championships to a stint in the UFC. Beyond the cage, he's a staunch supporter of amateur mixed martial arts and has established the 'Team Shorty foundation', dedicating himself to keeping kids off the streets and inside the gym.
