Jessica volunteers for an organization called On Angels Wings. Their mission is to seek to improve the mental health and wellness of families with medically fragile children through therapeutic photography and grief recovery services. It is an amazing organization where photographers volunteer to go into hospitals to take complementary photos for families that have lost a baby and they also go to family homes where a child is close to the end of their life. The photographers give these families memories to hold on to in their worst possible moment. Jessica said I feel like I give a little bit of a silver lining in the darkest cloud, which for her is a pretty phenomenal thing. The group of photographers are available 24 hours a day and Jessica talked about it giving her so much peace to know that she could help the families at such a difficult time.
At one of the sessions Jessica was given a small bear from the nurse at the hospital. The organization shortly after seeing the photos adopted that personal touch and now photos of the beautiful babies are taken with a small teddy bear that are sent home with the family as a memento for them to keep and cherish. Jessica said it is so rewarding to take my love for photography and capture these beautiful babies and to be able to give back. Spreading awareness that this happens and these children are still children and so loved and wanted.
