Create2Communicate is created to shine light on the social stigmas we create/are taught and live through in real life. Our goal is to humanize speaking up against stigmas by sharing lived experiences.
I bring attention to the social stigmas painted on Iremamber Sykap, a 16 year old Chuukese Micronesian shot and killed by Honolulu Police Department. The community/police response was that "he deserves what he got because of his choices to allegedly steal a vehicle and robbery." I encourage people to #backdatruth by following along with video footage evidence and pushing for all evidence to be released so we can see the truth along with supporting Sykap family/Community Organizers. There is no justification for hurting or taking lives(.) Police Accountability NOW.
Speakers also shared their personal experiences through spoken word and through song along with some last minute join in's which was greatly appreciated.
I hope to encourage and model expression through creativity. My creative outlet is through speaking and welcoming others to do the same. Please join future conversations on many different topics we face collectively.
