There are two different types of happiness. There's this external happiness about the circumstances that are happening around me. And then there's this deeper happiness, sometimes called Joy, that's at my core, both at some point are choices. Now, if I'm experiencing lots of happiness, because things are going my way, or I just bought a new car, new pair of shoes, or having a great time with family, I'm at the beach or whatever. That's an external happiness. Now, if I have a deeper happiness, or joy on the inside of me, that comes from also the same type of experience, but it's never about another person. Joy is about me, understanding the fact that I am enjoying life at a deep level sometimes is called flourishing, knowing that no matter what happens, things are going to be okay. Now emotions only last about eight seconds, Joy shows up and you feel it for about eight seconds, because there's this contentment that shows up, happiness is there. And when you feel it, it shows up for about eight seconds and it passes through you. Now our decision about how we handle circumstances that are happening in our life, are based on our concept or the way that we project what we think is actually happening. Remember, you can't make me happy, I get to choose to be happy regardless of what's happening. Because my joy and my happiness is my choice, even though I might dislike some of the things that are happening in my world. So we're going to learn more about happiness this week. I love you. I'm Dan Clark.
