Episode 50: Being Liberal, Opposing Authoritarianism and MAGA’s Illiberal War Rhetoric. This week, Brian and Andy welcomed special guest Tyler Harris, Executive Director at Project Liberal. The podcast started with a discussion on the concept of liberalism, its significance in American politics, it's stark contrast with authoritarianism and its distinction from other political ideas. Considering liberalism, the guys discussed the potential implications of the incoming President's aggressive rhetoric and policies – threatening neighbors and friends with economic and military warfare of various degrees - some of the possible motivations behind his actions, and the importance of advocating for liberalism in Virginia and across the United States. The conversation ended with a call to rekindle the liberal identity in American politics and to anchor cultural identity around traditional liberal values.
