A rise in tyranny across the United States is breathing new life into secessionist movements. A legal framework for secession, by which parts of states become new states, exists but there is no legal framework for states to separate from the country and such an action would be met with the force of the federal government. Nonetheless, economic, political and cultural catastrophes in America will give new life to these movements.
