Beginning the second half of our S.o.S series is Lifepointe Discipleship Pastor John Luttman. Pastor John leads many ministries within the church, and his 55+ years of ministry makes him one of the wisest men on the team. This wisdom is shown in the discussion of intimacy and romance that takes place. This is the natural progression in relationships, but still must be controlled and kept in right standing with scripture.
Solomon and his now bride are together after the wedding. They are alone and ready to give themselves to each other physically. We see a deep admiration and respect, especially in how the man speaks about his wife. There is an excitement, there is reason for celebration, but it has to be at the right time. God's best plan for relationships is to wait until marriage to have sex.
Without the commitment and covenant, pain and heartbreak are the only outcomes on the other side of sex. As Pastor John shares the metaphorical language in each verse, there is clearly beauty in the conversation and interaction. Thank God for healthy physical relationships!
