As we close volume 3 of BEP, Pastor Josh examines the story of Joshua and the Promised Land.
Surprise Birthdays. Holiday celebrations. Family get-togethers. These all take planning. But what happens when the plan makes no sense? This is how Joshua most likely felt as he heard God told him instead of developing a battle plan, to simply walk around the walls until they fell. God’s instructions don’t always make logical sense but do set up Him to work miracles. Just because we can’t see what God is wanting to do doesn’t mean that He is without a plan. Joshua and the Israelites trusted God, and acted on it immediately. The past generations of Israelites would have never had the faith and obedience to take on the Canaanites and enter the Promised Land. That’s why they didn’t. God will give direction, but we have to take action! We must play our part in what God is instructed us to do, just as Joshua led his people to do. We also know that God wants to collaborate with us, just as he worked with the Israelites to win the battle and enter the Promised Land. God wanted obedience from His people, and He would work the impossible for them. It is the same way today! If we can submit to God and allow Him to direct our lives, He will carry us over the finish line supernaturally. God’s plan includes us, and includes working with us.
