There was clearly a plan in place before the coming of the Messiah. God has left breadcrumbs all throughout time to tell of the coming king. In Daniel, we see as the prophecy is revealed to him that God's plan is exact. By crunching the numbers and calculating the times given, we see that the time between the decree and release of Hebrews and the commissioning of Jesus into ministry is correct to the day. Wow! How amazing to know that God is in the finest of details. We also can see that God does not begin a story without a conclusion. Just as clearly as He lays out the coming of the Messiah, He gives details of his crushing. He shows Daniel what will happen when the Messiah is no more, and how the Jews will react. The end of the prophetic word given also shows that the story has not yet been completed. There will be trials and tribulation to come, and we must be ready. We also must be just as ready for the return of Jesus! There is incredible encouragement in knowing that God had a plan for Jesus, mapped hundreds of years before his birth and that one day, He will return so that we may be with him!
