Description

We continue in the series, “There is More”, identifying who is to serve, how they are to serve and why they serve. Pastor Josh speaks on leading through serving and the impact it has on both others and us!

We know that we are all called to serve, and how our service should come out of our humility, but we find the revelation of who Christ truly is in the interaction between Jesus and Peter in Matthew 16. Peter recognizes Jesus as the Messiah, which sets off a track of learning and teaching that was in-depth and challenging. Throughout the rest of Jesus’ teachings and works, service was at the core. Jesus was the model of leading through serving. We know that Jesus taught that grace was important to serve because there would be people who we would deem unlovable or not servable on our own. But Christ clearly points to our humility coming in and allowing us to love and serve those who may not be who we would choose to act upon. This humility is a key factor in this, because without lowering ourselves so Jesus can work, we halt the Spirit moving inside of us. Leading through serving also requires submission, so that the Kingdom of God can be advanced without any ulterior motives present!
