To every progressive mindset there was a step followed to build that MINDSET, and today we will be looking at those steps.
The Steps behind every Progressive Mindset
You can make progress by establishing your goals and diligently working towards those goals that align with your life’s purpose. A lot of dreams are not terminated because the dreamers gave up; they are terminated due to a long period of inactivity. This is the more reason you need to develop a progress mindset while you pursue those relevant and meaningful goals. A progress mindset will enable you to work on breaking barriers/habits/inadequacy that can truncate the realization of your goals. What this mindset does is to help you constantly evaluate yourself, improve your skills, and seek ways to learn and grow through life.
Why Is Developing a Progress Mindset Important?
One of the many key things we look out for is a trip to a to achieving sound health, happiness, good relationships, and peace. Our mindset has a way of affecting our beliefs, how you perceive your talents, skills, knowledge, and personality. Your belief system eventually influences your viewpoints about goals and success. Permit me to say a fixed mindset can hinder your progress.
6 Steps to Creating a Progressive Mindset
1. Figure Out Your WHYs
You are either making progress or retrogressing. You need to establish why you want to move forward because nothing in this life is static. Questions that will help you figure out your whys are like:
• Career: Why do I want to be fulfilled in my career?
• Marriage: Why do I want a happy home?
• Health: Why do I want to be physically and mentally sound?
• Finance: Why do I want to be out of debt/wealthy?
• Academics: Why do I want to ace my grades?
• Relationship: Why do I want to communicate better?
• Personal: Why do I want to be a better person?
Is always important to establish reasons why you want to change levels in every aspect of your life. Because someone said and I quote, “When your why is strong and convincing, the how will emerge.” Establishing your reasons will help you to be an active player in decisions that affect your life. You will also be able to establish if your motivation to progress is intrinsic or extrinsic as you make progress.
2. Establish Tangible Goals
Once you have established your WHYs, the next step is to establish your desired goals. Break them down to short-term, mid-term, and as well as long-term goals for easy actualization. This process will not just enable you to track your progress but also help you to take them down one at a time and implement changes that improve your progress.
Keep Your Goals SMART Apart from breaking them into parts you can take on daily you also have to make sure your goals are SMART that is, your goals should be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound in order to make the desired progress. For instance, I want to read 6 books within the next three months, that means I will read 2 books each month. For this to be actualize, I will have to divide the total numbers of chapters I have in the 2 books by the number of days I have set out for reading and that mathematical process will bring about the total number of days it will take me to read the2 books in a month, then do the same for the remaining months and books.
3. Create Your Game Plan
It is not enough to know what you want from life; you need to design a roadmap to get to your destination.
