Just when things were looking up for year-round football (See Season 1, Episode 2), the XFL has folded. Two and a half months into their inaugural season saw a suspension of play (while players and staff were still remunerated), then the release of all players, then the elimination of all operations staff, to the final blow -- the filing for bankruptcy -- on April 13. The XFL had some serious potential, and its benefits will continue to be enjoyed by the NFL and CFL. The economic impacts of the global pandemic are beginning to resemble the aftermath of wild brush fires.
