We as humans would like to think that we are highly advanced spiritual beings but we are also animals.

And animals can be very predatory, and vicious. As Jim Rohn once said

“ What’s Justice to an alligator?”

For religious people who perceive evil, selfish, or lustful  thoughts as being part of themselves may feel a sense of guilt and unworthiness for having those thoughts. This can lead to sub conscious self destructive and self sabotaging behavior because they believe that they are unworthy and do not deserve to be successful and happy.

But are we responsible for having those thoughts? We are animals and we are surrounded by a world with a media that is filled with sex, violence, and salacious stories of others who have given into temptation.

The original meaning of sin is to miss the mark. Taking control of your thoughts is a high mark. If you miss do not despair, forgive yourself and know that you will get better with practice.  The fact that you are attempting to take control of your mind puts you far ahead of the millions of people who are unaware that it’s something worthwhile to do.  It is great accomplishment through witch many other great accomplishments will follow. It is allowing the soul to take control of the animal within.
