#BeyondtheBurgh is a series of podcast interviews recorded during my recent trip back to Pittsburgh, PA where I served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints more than 15 years ago. The footage of that trip culminated in the documentary film "Back to the 'Burgh" about my experience as a missionary in Pittsburgh. #BeyondtheBurgh is a bonus feature of the film as these interviews did not make the final cut of the film. But they are nevertheless a huge part of my missionary experience and thus a huge part of the untold story.
I met Kacie in my first week in Pittsburgh. She was 8 years old and she’d been meeting with the missionaries for a while. We spent time with her and her family often during my first 6 months in the mission. We laughed a lot. So many great memories playing in their front yard or just sitting in the house and talking. Shortly after her baptism, we lost touch with the family. Now, more than 15 years later, I got to sit down with Kacie, catch up on old times, and talk about what the last decade and a half have been like in her life.
