Questions to Consider:
The ruler in this passage had done all the things Jesus mentioned from his youth. Would you consider yourself someone who has been a believed in Jesus “from your youth”? Think about some of the challenges of seeing the truths of Scripture come alive when you’ve heard and believed them much of your life. Why do you think that’s the case? What can be the danger?
In the passage, why would it be so difficult for this ruler to give up these things to follow Christ? (hint: think beyond just wealth and possessions)
If you were to draw a set of concentric circles and fill in things based on how important they are, which circle would Jesus land in? What would occupy that center circle? (Don’t be tempted to answer the questions based on what you know is the “right” answer; base the answers on how you actually live your life and the things you prioritize)
