Spend some time reflecting and discussing the text from today’s message. Here are some questions to consider.
• The disciples believed the Messiah would fit a certain mold. Look through the Old Testament and develop a profile of the ”kind of guy” the disciples would have expected as the Messiah. What would he have done while on earth, according to their view?
• Identify how you view the world. What experiences, information, values, etc. shape the way that you view the world?
• How did the cross challenge what the disciples expected of the Messiah?
• How does the cross challenge your view of the world? Does the cross (the gospel) shape your view of the world or does the world shape your view of the cross?
• What are some things you believe about the world that the cross challenges? Look at Philippians 2:1-11 as you consider this question.
