Trump said there is a war on Thanksgiving, is that true? Well to a conservative yes there is. To a liberal its just setting the record straight instead of over simplified lore and we can find new meaning to it. This "triggers" conservatives in their words because American folklore is a kin to religion and part of their identity and nostalgia.
