Here in the US we are indoctrinated into the idea of us exceptionalism from an early age.
It is mandatory to sing the Star-Spangled banner in class and if you do not do so like myself when I was a child you get sent to the office and disciplined. In this way we are taught to not question authority and to do as we are told from an early age. It is also no accident that the United States is the only industrialized Nation to not have free college education and universal healthcare. Healthcare is the leading cause of bankruptcy here in the United States, and when somebody is struggling financially they cannot advocate for themselves. There is no financial reason for college to not be free quite the opposite quote unquote free college would actually be a profitable system if you take the numbers from Google that the average high school graduate in the United States makes $25,000 a year and the average college graduate makes $50,000 a year. Just a difference in taxes and what the college graduate pays over the high school graduate would be $170,000 in that person's working life that more than pays for their four years of college and pays to keep the system free for everybody else in perpetuity. So this myth that we cannot afford free college education is actually just propaganda to keep the population ignorant because our government does not want a nation full of people capable of critical thinking.
