Much Love
In this final episode we discuss many things. I worked in some old hotels in San Francisco and cannot believe the things I saw. Life in the cold dark city.
The hotel I worked in was build during prohibition. The basement of the hotel had had a speakeasy in it. When I worked there in the 1990's the manager had his desk up on the old marble stage, 5 stairs up above the floor. In the ceiling above the managers desk you could see where there used to be an escape stairway that led to the sidewalk above in case of a police raid. This hotel had the biggest cockroaches I have ever seen. Some were two inches long.
We also discuss regenerative farming and how the world must make a shift to regenerative agriculture. Sustainable is NOT enough. We need our practices to actually benefit the earth and soil. This is simply done my managing and rotating animals on small farms. The World Health Organization has stated the ONLY way to feed the worlds growing population is SMALL LOCAL ORGANIC FARMS. While a 10,000 acre corn field might have seemed like a good idea 100 or 1000 years ago, we are now aware of the problems that industrial agriculture and mono cropping present.
Have we not learned from the great dust bowl of the 1930s here in the US? Our farming practices are abismal. The hog farms in North Carolina present a huge ecological catastrophe every time there is a flood. Our practice of over crowded feed lots is not only disgusting but immoral. There is no excuse to treat a living being without respect. If we are to eat meat, it must be raised humanly, and in a way that actually benefits the planet and does not harm the animal.
This sea change would be very simple to accomplish, it just takes a shift in perspective. We have been brainwashed into thinking "how can we pay for it" should be the first question when any new legislation is presented. Except of course when that legislation is promoting increasing our already disgustingly bloated military budget, then of course no debate there.
The reality is we cannot afford to keep doing business as usual. While the corporations and the uber rich are getting richer and richer, the planet is getting sicker and sicker and people are dying sooner and sooner. This current paradigm only works for the top 10%. The only way this completely lopsided and unhealthy system is allowed to survive is the fact that the ENTIRE mainstream media are owned by 6 corporations who do not want to change anything and just want to keep milking their cash cow.
