On Allen Ginsberg - interview with biographer Michael Schumacher
Hello, and welcome to Dzetaland.
This week I’m welcoming back author, writer, and raconteur Michael Schumacher.
In this interview, Michael responds to questions about Beat writer Allen Ginsberg. Michael is uniquely qualified to answer these questions as he was Ginsberg’s biographer and wrote the book Dharma Lion.
Beat and Buddhism, the influence of William Blake, who was “King of the Beats” and why Ginsberg joined NAMBLA/was Ginsberg a pedophile? are all questions covered here.
As is traditional, there were some technical issues, in this case recording outside and dealing with the park noises and mic levels. While my words are weak Michael’s come in loud and clear, so no worries there.
The interview is a touch over an hour long, so grab a drink, a snack, or maybe your copy of HOWL and settle in for the long haul.
Next week’s scheduled interview is with a woman who discusses building a life and finding fulfillment outside of the fabled corporate world. And if she and I have any scheduling issues, count on me having some ridiculous story to pass the time.
Anyhow, as always remember – I tell you so today, so I can say I told you so tomorrow.
See you next Tuesday!
