RESTRICTIONS VS RESTRAINT.
when it comes to losing weight and diets we often think we have to go ham and restrict.
But restriction leads to a feeling of missing out, craving what it is you’re restricting. This also greats guilt when you eat foods you restricted and also it’s just unsustainable.
Restraint however is what we will have to have on our journey to reach goals.
There are going to be times when you say no to that second slice of cake, or the portion size may have to be smaller, you might have half a pizza and salad in stead of pizza and chips, you have 1 glass of wine instead of two.
This is RESTRAINT.
You’re valuing your goals and your health without restriction.
You’re still allowing yourself those foods, you’re just having some restraint as to how much you indulge in them (don’t eat like an asshole)
The 80/20 rule means mostly whole foods right, this is also for nutritional value and food quality coz that matters a lot too.
This is where the framing of the way you talk to yourself comes into it.
Restriction: I can’t have that, I’m not allowed it.
It’s bad.
Restraint: I can have it but I’m choosing not too, I’ll have just one glass tonight. I’ll have a small amount and add some greens or veggies.
See how restraint puts YOU in control and empowers you be making the decision to value your goals and still enjoy life just on a slightly more controlled way.
Try it. My clients learn this and social events, parties, meals out, Christmas, they are a breeze now for them!
Remember you’re gonna have to have RESTRAINT BUT NOT RESTRICTION.
Coz if nothing changes nothing Changes!!
