E41: NO CHOICE, BUT GRATITUDE!

“No choice, but gratitude!” I came up with this saying after a conversation I had last week with someone I had just met. He was from the Caribbean, and we met at a business event, but once we got talking I realized that we had a very similar mindset.

We were speaking about how North Americans generally don’t recognize how good of a life we have. Most of us don’t have to think about what we’re going to eat, having a home to return to, and just general safety concerns that many places in our world have. I think it’s interesting that I live in a world of comfort, safety, and excess, but I’ve done nothing to earn that. I had no say in the life I’ve been born into.

I’m grateful to have the life that I have. I’m blessed to be surrounded by the people in my life, have the experiences I’ve had so far, and am excited for what’s to come. Yet, I still wonder why they’ve been given to me. In the e
