Micah Tremblay is a queer actor, writer, and Cinema alum from Ithaca College. We discuss the best and worst representation of queer people in media, stereotypes, right-wing paranoia about queer people, the lack of racial diversity, the portrayal of queer characters by straight and/or cisgender actors, and how some media companies exploit queer stories for attention and profit.
Our discussion includes those who identify as gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual, non-binary, asexual, aromantic, queer, and/or pansexual.
Media we discuss includes: Friends, Schitt's Creek, The Umbrella Academy, Brooklyn 99, Heartstopper, West Side Story, Zoolander 2, Rosanne, Little Miss Sunshine, Brokeback Mountain, Will & Grace, Netflix's The Prom, Kevin Conroy as Batman, Family Guy, The Simpsons, Julia Sweeney's Pat on SNL, Mindy Kaling as Velma on HBO Max, Rocko's Modern Life, and Bojack Horseman.
