The Wiz ABSOLUTELY HATES The Birds

I know...how could I hate such a horror film classic?

In all fairness, horror is a genre a film I mostly do not like, so you can keep that in mind and disregard my opinion if you'd like.

To me, there are so issues with this movie:

First, the main character: not only is Tippy Hedren's performance flat throughout, but the means of how she gets connected to her main love interest (and how she eventually gets connected with her) is utterly ludicrous.

Now, if the film's tongue was firmly pressed in cheek, then I could understand the absurdity and just go with the rest of the film.

But the film takes itself so damn seriously. How can someone take the concept of a rampage of crows, seagulls and such deciding randomly to kamikaze themselves to destroy a small town? The movie taking this way too seriously sucks the fun out of it.

And finally, what is The Birds' cardinal sin: the film is dreadfully dull. The romance itself doesn't work (see above why), the characters have little depth and the deliberate pace (that was probably used to create tension) makes this film a slow bore.

Boring and ridiculous isn't something I would have never thought I'd use to describe a Hitchcock film...but I guess every director has one.
