Hello Friends! I wanted to talk about a song that I recently have been loving. It’s called, “I Love Me” by Demi Lovato. The lyrics to this song were so impactful, it inspired me to share what’s been on my heart for awhile when it comes to self love. One specific song lyric that really got me thinking was, “I wonder when I love me is enough?”
When is “I love me” truly enough? When can we really feel like we have self-worth, self-love, and self-confidence? When can we look at ourselves and truthfully tell ourselves that we love the way God created us to be?
I think we ask ourselves these questions all the time, whether we know it or not. From personal experience, “I love me” is enough when I choose to put my self-worth in Jesus’ hands and no one else’s. Every single time I let someone define my self worth (and let myself define my self-worth), I never feel like enough. The reason why I was always left feeling empty and rejected was that I wasn’t letting the Creator define His creation.
But here’s some truth: Jesus chose to die for you because He knew you weren’t enough. Jesus chose to love you so that He could show you what you’re worth. The main idea I want to share with you all is that we can only appreciate and love ourselves when we put our self-worth in the hands of Jesus. When we put our self-worth in what others say about us, and even in our own abilities and definition of ourselves, we will always be left empty. But the beautiful fact about Jesus’ love is that He chooses to love us eternally not because of what we accomplish, not because of what we look like, not because we’ve got it all together… Jesus chooses to love us because He cares about us and wants His love to be the main source of motivation and fulfillment in life.
In today’s podcast episode, I share the top three reasons why I think you really should love who you are and appreciate the fact that God chose to create you to use your gifts to change the world! :)
I hope you enjoy. God bless you!
