In this episode, my guest is Dr Christos Dimas, the deputy minister of Development and Investments, in charge of Research, Innovation and Technology.

Christos talks about developing an effective innovation-ecosystem and a long-term development strategy in linking development and investment with research. Pre-requisites are (i) the improvement of the regulatory and business environment and (ii) a reform of the Greek R&D system, which the current government addresses but has not been done as intensively in the past, through:

• Re-organising the National Council of Research, Technology and Innovation.
• The Innovation District in Athens and ThessIntec 4th Generation Technology Park in Thessaloniki.
• The portal for Ecosystem Innovation “Elevate Greece”.
• The transnational Agreements on Cooperation in Research, Technology, Development and Innovation.
• The synergy between the Universities Technology Transfer Centers, the Ecosystem Innovation “Elevate Greece” and the Innovation districts in Athens and Thessaloniki.
