1. Snakes
A common fear of reptiles with long, slender bodies. (Ophidiophobia)
Many people are afraid of snakes because they think they are dangerous, maybe venomous.
2. Needles
A fear of medical needles used for injections. (Trypanophobia)
She has a fear of needles and avoids getting shots whenever possible.
3. Spiders
A common fear of eight-legged arachnids. (Arachnophobia)
Other arachnids are scorpions, ticks, and mites
His fear of spiders makes him very nervous when he sees one.
4. Heights
A fear of being in high places is called (Acrophobia)
She is afraid of heights and feels dizzy when she looks down from a tall building.
5. Speaking in English
Anxiety about using English, especially for non-native speakers.
Many students feel nervous speaking in English in front of the class.
6. Public Speaking
A fear of speaking in front of a group of people. (Glossophobia)
He avoids public speaking because it makes him very anxious. He would not be a good politician.
7. Thunder and Lightning
A fear of storms, particularly the loud sounds and flashes of light. You might hear a clap of thunder. (Astraphobia)
She hides under her bed during thunderstorms because she is scared of thunder and lightning.
8. Clowns
A fear of costumed performers with face makeup and large red noses.
His fear of clowns started when he was a child and saw one at a birthday party.
