Academic Apartheid: Disproportionality In Special Education & Beyond
The miseducation and misdirection of Black youth is an increasing issue with far-reaching consequences. In my 16th book, The Mis-education of African American Youth, I defined holistic education as "The preparation and empowerment of youth to enter into a world that is hostile toward them and not only compete but win." It was Malcolm X that said, "Only a fool would let his enemy teach his children." Yet, here we are, expecting those outside our collective to educate our children to compete with theirs. Academic Apartheid is far from a book filled with whining and finger-pointing. It goes to the heart of the matter, but the focus is on actionables that provide solutions and relief. It speaks to parents, school psychologists, educators, and the Black community at large.
