My first job out of high school was at El Sereno and I was a teacher’s assistant in the music department. It was my job throughout college and during this time, I got to work for Ariel and also get to know him. However, in this conversation, there was a ton more I learned about him. Ariel and I talked about the challenges of teaching during COVID, the importance of teaching students skills and lessons they can apply later in life, his upbringing, how Michael Jackson’s THRILLER opened the doors for him musically, how Rosie O’Donnell helped him pay his way through college, and a whole lot more.
