Description

Diane Steinberg Lewis {aka Dianne Steinberg} is a singer, songwriter, pianist who has recorded solo albums with Atlantic Records, ABC/Dunhill Records, Word Records/Rejoice and RSO Records. Diane has also composed and performed for movies, television, Radio Themes and Cues, Commercials and Ads.

Teaching Experience
A Graduate of Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Diane graduated with a Bachelors of Music in Public School Music (Keyboard Major), with a Theory and Composition Minor. She pursued post graduate studies at WMU in Theatre and Performing Arts. . While persuing her degree, Diane performed in clubs and musical theatre throughout her college career in Kalamazoo, and continued performing during her teaching years at Battle Creek Central High School. She taught music, choreographed the musicals. and accompanied the schools performing groups.

In 1973, Dianne Steinberg recorded her 1st album with Atlantic Records and moved to California. Appearing in clubs throughout Los Angeles, Hollywood and Beverly Hills, Dianne was introduced to Otis Smith of ABC Records at a party for Harry Nilsson given by her manager, Michael Viner. It was there she 1st met George Burns and someone who would indirectly play in to her future, John Lennon. Otis Smith VP of ABC, signed Dianne to her 2nd album, Universal Child.

When the Album, was released. A&R head, Charlie Miner, made a call to the casting director, Fern Champion. They had not found an actress/singer for the movie, “Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”. He was impressed with the album photo inside the cover and immediately sent it over after he called Fern stating, “I found Lucy”. The audition was set the following week on the Paramount lot office. The movie was released in 1978.

Marriage and Family
Dianne married Kenny Lee Lewis and had 2 daughters, Sierra K Lewis, Art Director in Animation at Dreamworks in Los Angeles and Kendra Lewis, Illustration Major at Maryland Institute College of Art now living in Denver, CO, Maryland. Both daughters have theatre and music backgrounds.

During their younger years, Dianne returned to pursue her Professional Clear Teaching Credential at California State University, Northridge and reactivated her teaching career as accompanist, performance coach and substitute teacher. Diane Lewis worked throughout California, in the Los Angeles Unified School District, Hart School District, Santa Clarita Valley School District and just recently retired from San Luis County and Atascadero Schools Districts (2006 - 2017)

Among her greatest lifetime experiences as a teacher and director was working with Choral Legends, Gif Richards of Battle Creek and Gary Lambrecht of San Luis Obispo. RIchards and Lambrecht gave her access and opportunity to teach some of the most gifted and talented students and to make a“A Way” for them.
