I am a self-taught scholarship strategist with over 20 years of experience. As a past full-ride scholarship
recipient and a dedicated parent, I have successfully helped my two sons secure over $75,000 in
scholarships.
Dubbed as The Inspirational Scholarship Coach, I passionately blend scholarship education with
essential life skills, an abundance mindset, spiritual principles, and the power of teamwork. Through my
role as the founder and CEO of Journey Changers Scholarship Solutions, I have been able to positively
impact the lives of countless students and families.
My journey began in high school when I aspired to become a computer programmer. Raised in a single-
parent household with limited resources, I relied on three core values instilled in me from a young age:
the importance of family, the willingness to support others, and trust in God. These principles became
my guiding lights.
I recall a challenging time in my life as a teenager when my siblings and I returned home from school to
find an eviction notice on our house and my mother was absent. As the oldest girl, I stepped up to take
care of my family, cooking meals and ensuring everyone was looked after. Hours turned into days, and
we were forced to separate, each finding support with a family member or friend. Throughout the rest of
my high school years, my mother was missing from our lives.
Despite the hardships, I refused to let my dream of pusuing college die. With no parental guidance or
family experience with higher education, I took it upon myself to navigate the college application
process. I taught myself which colleges to consider and how to apply. While I received acceptance letters,
I was faced with the financial burden of paying for my college education. My guidance counselor advised
me to complete a financial aid form and apply for scholarships, but provided no guidance beyond that.
So, I embarked on another journey, researching and applying for scholarships. By the grace of God, I was
ultimately awarded a full-ride scholarship to Norfolk State University.

Upon returning to my hometown of Anderson, South Carolina after my college years, I became a parent
and faced the challenge of financing my own children's college education. Drawing upon my personal
experience, I shared my scholarship knowledge with my sons, empowering them to secure over $75,000
in scholarships. As their friends, church community, and relatives witnessed their success, they
approached me seeking guidance on how to pursue college through scholarships. That's when I realized
there was a larger community issue to address.
In response to the lack of awareness and understanding of how scholarships can make college
affordable, I founded Journey Changers Scholarship Solutions. My coaching program empower families
to maximize scholarship opportunities, reducing reliance on student loans. I integrate valuable life
skills, an abundance mindset, spiritual principles, and team-building. I am committed to helping
students and their families transform their lives through education, scholarships, and personal growth.
