Part 1:
Claire Wu Anderson // Peace Studies Major // Communication and Media Studies Minor
- Never visited prior to the first day of move in my freshman year
- Was told about Goucher by my college counselor
- No one from my school had gone to Goucher, but my counselor had heard about it from “Colleges that Changed Lives”
- Got in and got a lot of scholarship money, so my parents said that it was the best place to go since we wouldn’t go into debt
- First time going to Baltimore was to move in
- Met my close friend circle through my First Year Experience group and a smores night in the Freshman circle
- Came onto campus thinking I was going to be a International Relations Major, changed to Peace Studies after a Peace Studies class my Freshman year spring
- I liked Peace more because it was everything I liked about International Relations but with action tied to the findings and the research
- I liked having an interdisciplinary major way more than having such a focused major
- Took a Com CPE and really realized how much I liked the study area and how I’ve already been doing what I would be doing in class on my own during my childhood (making home movies, writing play scripts, like social media as a form of sharing art, etc.)
- Added Com as my minor my sophomore year winter
