Clean and Sober Love with Joaquin Barreda

Looking back, Joaquin recalls being plagued with anxiety and insecurities at a very early age.

He believes this helped push him to take his first drink at 7 years old and then experimenting with marijuana and cocaine at 13.

At 24, Joaquin was brought to his first 12 Step meeting.

He heard the similarities between his life and what others were sharing, took the suggestions that were given to him, and stayed sober for 3 years.

But Joaquin said he let other things take priority over his recovery.

"I stopped doing all the things that you're supposed to be doing."

After going to treatment and getting sober again, he remembers seeing a commercial on TV for a dating app and wondering why there wasn't anything similar for people in recovery.

A few years later, the Clean And Sober Love(CASL) app was launched.

The app provides a safe place for people in recovery to meet without having to have the sometimes awkward first date conversation about being sober.

Today Joaquin is 8 years sober, and he's also the head of Business Development for Mastermind Treatment Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

You can find the CASL app in your phone's app store.
