Clean Cause with Wes Hurt
Wes, the founder of the Austin-based beverage company Clean Cause, says it took over twenty years for him to start taking recovery seriously.
He feels his story is typical of many people who have struggled with addiction, in that it started as experimenting, but evolved into an escape and obsession.
"I was doing anything I could not to feel."
In one of his early 12 Step meetings, Wes realized that he needed to devote his life to helping others in their recovery journeys.
He knew how much rehab and sober living houses cost, and he also knew how to create and market a product that people wanted to buy.
The mission became clear: Sell something that helps people get into treatment and sober living, and thus Clean Cause was born.
Clean Cause, the sparkling yerbe mate beverage brand, now donates 50% of its profits to those in need of recovery services.
To date, they have donated $600,000 in scholarships, with at least another $500,000 to be distributed in the coming year.
Today Wes is more than 6 years sober.
He continues to grow in his recovery and expand the movement that has helped so many find their own path.
