Lam 5: Eze 1-3

Chp 5 concludes the book of Lamentations where the children of Israel continue to express their sorrow and despair regarding their current situation. They indicate that they are still suffering for the sins of their ancestors; that they have become fatherless, mothers are widows and they must buy the water they drink.  Just to list a few of the turmoil that they are facing.  They cry out to the Lord and ask why has He forsaken them for so long and cry out to be restored to the Father.

Chp 1 describes a detailed vision Ezekiel experienced that first appears as a whirlwind and then four living creatures appears with the appearance likened to a man.  However one side of the face has the features of a lion.  Some of the features he describes were wings that covered their body and the soles of their feet were like that of a calf.
Chp 2 is the call of Ezekiel as a prophet by the Lord.  He was living among the exiles in Babylon and the Lord calls him to go and speak the Israelites, to warn them again about their rebellious nature towards Him. He advised Ezekiel that they are a stiff neck and rebellious people.  Nevertheless, he must go and deliver the word of the Lord.
Chp 3 The Lord gives a warning to Ezekiel the prophet that he must deliver the wored just as the Lord gives it to him.  If he chooses not to deliver the word and a person dies because of their sin, that their blood would be on his hand because he chose not to deliver the word (warning) of the Lord.  But, if he delivers the word and the person continues to sin and ignore the warning, the blood would not be on his hand.  Whenever God gives us a word for someone, it is crucial that that word is delivered.  It can be a matter of life of death.  It is not for us to determine the importance of the word but just be obedient to the instructions.
