In second Samuel 19, David returns to Jerusalem, and restores his reign after the rebellion of his son Absalom. However, the reunion with the tribes of Israel is not without tension, particularly with the tribe of Judah in second, Samuel, 28 tells us the story of another rebellion, this time led by a man name, Sheba Joab, one of David’s commanders is sent to put down the rebellion and engages in a siege against the city where Sheba is hiding. A wise woman persuade Joab to spare the city by handing over Shabbos and to him and the rebellion is put down and second Samuel 21. We read about two distinct events first the Gibeonites seek revenge against Sauls family leading to the execution of some of his descendants. Second David’s mighty men engage in battles against the philistines, and the chapter conclude with the song of Thanksgiving from David.
