Gen 50
Jacob/Isreal was mourned 40 days by his family and friends and elders from Egypt. Before he died he instructed his sons to askJoseph for forgiveness. Also Joseph made an oath that his bones be carried out when they were freed.
Exodus 1
Joseph died and all his generation. When a new Pharoah appeared who knew not Joseph, and the children of Isreal multiplied imensely . The Pharoh feared the people would rise up against him with other nations. So he subjected him with hard labor.
Exodus 2
The Birth of Moses. His flight from Egypt for slaying an egyptian, and marriage to a Median priests daughter. God remembers his covenant with Abraham.
Exodus 3
The Lord appears to Moses in a burning bush and he recieves his call to free the people of Isreal.
