Solomon was influenced by his numerous foreign wives to turn his heart from God of Israel .He built altars for other gods .
However God was not happy with Solomon , therefore he stirred up some adversaries against Solomon . Haddad the Edomite ,Rezon from Damascus and Jeroboam son of Nebat .
Meanwhile, prophet Ahijah had met with jeroboam to inform him of God's will to make him king of 10 tribes of Israel.
At the end of the chapter , Solomon died and was buried . Then Rehoboam his son reigned as king of Israel.

Reoboam did not take good counsel from the old people but his harsh response to the people of Israel led to the division of Israel.
He became king of Judah and Benjamin meanwhile Jeroboam became the king for that rest ten tribes of Israel.
Afterwards, jeroboam built two calves of gold for the Israelites to worship. This was to discourage them from going ahead to Jerusalem. And this act was a grave sin unto God .
