Something tragic happened that shook the whole land of Israel . The conccubine of a certain Levite was ravaged by the men of Gilead of the tribe of Benjamin.
Afterward a civil war broke out in Israel the other tribes of Israel against the Benjamin tribe .

In the aftermath of the civil war , it all appeared that the Benjamin tribe could be extinct .
Meanwhile , the whole Israelites had a meeting and came up with ideas on how to give the Benjamin tribe a chance to survival.
