Joel 1
Prophet Joel saw the vision of an invading locust . The locust had invaded the land of Israel.
The situation according to him calls for mourning.
The drunkards should wail.because the wine is dried up from their lips , the farmers should weep because the farm harvest is destroyed ,the priests also should mourn because the grain offering and drink offering are withheld from the house of God.
Joel 2
There is an invading army ,so large like none ever seen . .. before them fire devours ...at the sight of them nations are in anguish ...
It's the day of the Lord , a day of darkness and gloom. ...the heavens tremble, the sun and moon are darkened, and the stars no longer shine.
Joel continues with a call for repentance .“Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.”
True repentance is the only way out of this impending destruction that is coming to all nations.
And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance..
Joel 3
God promised to restore the fortune of Judah and Jerusalem. Many nations who rose up against them shall be judged. Jerusalem will be holy and no nation will invade her again.
“In that day the mountains will drip new wine, and the hills will flow with milk; all the ravines of Judah will run with water. A fountain will flow out of the Lord’s house and will water the valley of acacias.
Lesson learnt
Salvation is from the Lord. He will always deliver His own people from evil . All He wants is for us to turn away from our sinful ways and live in total submission to the Holy Spirit.
