SUMMER OF THE BIBLE
Leviticus 21 22 23
Chapter 21.
Priests must not shave their heads or shave off the edges of their beards or cut their bodies. They must be holy to their God and must not profane the name of their God. Because they present the offerings made to the LORD by fire, the food of their God, they are to be holy.

Lesson
He may eat the bread of his God: This indicates that those in priestly families could be supported by the priesthood. One with a physical defect could not serve as a priest, but they could eat the bread of his God, enjoying his relationship with Israel's covenant God.

Chapter 22
You shall not offer to the LORD what is bruised or crushed, or torn or cut; nor shall you make any offering of them in your land. Nor from a foreigner's hand shall you offer any of these as the bread of your God, because their corruption is in them, and defects are in them. They shall not be accepted on your behalf.

lesson
God spoke to the sons of Aaron regarding their reverence to the LORD. They needed to make a clear separation between God's things and of the children of Israel. God also reminded them that He is Holy and they should not profane His Holy name among the children of Israel.

Chapter 23
These are my appointed feasts, the appointed feasts of the LORD, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies. "There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, a day of sacred assembly.

tells how the Lord established five holy times when all Israel was to make a special effort to be holy and draw closer to him. These times were on the Sabbath
