SUMMER OF THE BIBLE
Leviticus 1 2 3 4
Chapter 1
God gives instructions for a burnt offering. The priests made this offering twice a day. Individuals could also make a burnt offering to show their devotion and commitment to God. Many of the instructions concerning the burnt offering are the same as for other offerings explained in Leviticus.

Lesson
Shows us God's ongoing desire to have fellowship with His people and to be in their midst. We see this in the tabernacle and in the laws asking and requiring the people to draw near to God's presence. God called and the people answered.

Chapter 2
The priest burned it and offered the sweet savor to God, but what was left went to Aaron and his sons. An oblation of the meat offering was baked unleavened cakes made with fine flour, mingled with oil

Lesson
grain offering without blood or flesh is a sacrifice because it involves transfer of something to the sacred domain of God for His use. This explains how Paul could urge Christians to “present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service” (Rom 12:1)

Chapter 3
God promises to keep the Israelites safe and give them fertile livestock, and they acknowledge this by giving God mad props when he sends good stuff their way. To keep things simple from here on out we're going to go with the folks who call this a peace offering.

Lesson
When his offering is a sacrifice of a peace offering, if he offers it of the herd, whether male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the LORD.

Chapter 4
The fat was required to be removed as with the peace offering for burning before God. Then the whole bullock was carried out of the campus to a clean place where the ashes were poured out after being burned on wood with fire.

This same process was done if the entire congregation of Israel sinned ignorantly against God. The priest made an atonement for the entire congregation in the same or similar manner as was done for the individual.

A ruler who sinned against the LORD would follow the same process, except they brought a kid of the goats without blemish. If a common person sinned in ignorance, they follow the same procedure as well, except they would bring a female kid of goats or lamb without blemish.

The anointed priest would then make an atonement for them

Lesson
Sin is an offense against the holiness of God, and so the veil guarding His holy presence must receive sacrificial blood. This blood had to be sprinkled seven time before the LORD – before the veil or curtain that separated the holy place and the Holy of Holies.
