Chapter summary
In chapter 8, Elisha warns of a coming famine and the woman whose son he had raised to life (chapter 4) goes to live in the land of the Philistines for the seven years of the famine. When she returns, she goes to ask the king to restore her house and land and he grants her request.
Ben-hadad, the king of Syria is murdered by one of his men, Hazael who then becomes king. The kings of Israel and Judah go to war against Hazael and the king of Israel gets wounded in the battle.
In chapter 9 Jehu is anointed as king over Israel and prophecies are given against Ahab’s house and Jezebel. Jehu goes to Jezreel, and he kills both Joram and Ahaziah the kings of Israel and Judah. Jezebel is thrown out a window and dogs eat her leaving only her skull, feet and palms.
