Bible Summary
In Deuteronomy chapter 10 God gives instructions to prepare another two tablets of stone, just like the first set which Moses broke when he found the people worshipping the golden calf in rebellion to God. But this time God Himself would inscribe the tablets with the commandments.
The children of Israel then continue on their journey and when they get to Jotbath described as “a land of rivers of waters”, God separates the Levites to serve a special function. They are to bear the ark of the covenant, stand before the Lord and minister to Him and bless the people in the Lord’s name.
Chapter 10 concludes with God’s requirements of the people, which could be summed up in the admonition to “fear the Lord thy God”.
Chapter 11 opens with the other side of the metaphorical coin with the admonition to “love the Lord thy God” and basically, the whole chapter is a call to love God. It is a love which is expressed through obedience, always keeping God’s charges, statutes, judgments and commandments, and they are to keep these words in their heart and in their soul and teach them to their children.
The people are warned to remain faithful to God when they enter into the Promised Land and not turn from Him to serve and worship other god
