Description

Most of the chapters in today’s reading, are attributed to David, the king of Israel.

Starting with Psalm 2 we see the account of the post-resurrection dialogue between the Son and the Father and the Son’s promised inheritance, which is the nations. In chapters 3 and 4, David testifies to God’s protection and deliverance from his enemies. He identifies God as his shield, glory and the lifter up of his head and he advises to put your trust in the Lord.

God does not take pleasure in wickedness David says in chapter 5. And he David desires to be led by God in righteousness and pledges to worship the Lord in the temple. In chapters 6 and 7, he cries out for mercy in the midst of his difficulties, from which there seems to be no end, and he also pleads for protection from his enemies. But he is confident that God has heard his prayers.

Chapters 8 and 9 are psalms of praise to God. Praising God’s name which is excellent in all the earth and praising God’s judgement and salvation. The final chapter, chapter 10, captures David’s frustration at the seeming success of the wicked and he pleads with God to do something about it.
