This weeks episode of the Live Your Purpose features the gifted Derin Fletcher. I met Derin at her grand opening last month and already I’ve learned that she’s one of those people God gave a lil something extra to lol. We spoke about her dreams of always wanting to be an artist, and how at times she was challenged and hit with resistance that took her off course. She was able to find her way back through doing her own internal work and healing. What I learned to appreciate about Derin the most is she also carries a strong connection to practicing empathy and so do I. She currently shares her space for free with different creatives here in Akron. Derins work has been highlighted on Adult Swim, The RTA in Cleveland and with Metro here in Akron. She currently has the only Black owned commercial building in downtown Akron that is quickly turning into prime real estate.
I asked Derin what her creative process was when doing her artwork and she simply replied “I want to show us in the most beautiful way possible”
