Comedian Dane Baptiste joined me on the show to talk about his career, being a black person in comedy, and what life was like before venturing into comedy. Dane has hosted Live at the Apollo, performed at the London Palladium, completed world-wide tours, and even had his own show on the BBC- Sunny D (Available on BBC iplayer). Dane's messages about staying humble, treating people with respect, and not taking yourself too seriously are inspiring and can relate to anyone. Stories of kindness and respect are part of the reason Dane has been so successful in his career, as well as the strong mentality and mindset he possesses. Before we even started recording, myself and Dane had a very in-depth discussion about race, and how the concept of race varies across the UK, we both shared out views and experiences , it was fascinating to hear how shielded my life has been, coming from a predominantly white Welsh valley's area compared to Dane's background. Dane did not just speak about himself, but also about equality and some key messages which everyone should hold onto. This episode has the ideal mix of comedic entertainment and serious talk. A MUST listen!
Note from the host: I have to say, Dane is an absolute gentleman and as the host, it felt like I was talking to a friend, as oppose to interviewing one of my favourite comedians.
