Description

From the moment we are born and draw our first breath, we start the countdown to the day we give out our last one.

This clock is inherent to our lives. Birth, in fact, starts the clock. Life causes it.

Our challenge while we’re here is to honor every moment of life, to witness it’s precious uniqueness and make sure we create meaning out of it.

The sacredness of life is in the tension between fleeting moments and the timeliness of each one, between fragility and strength.

Each moment is laden with potentiality. Each life filled with lessons of love, connection, compassion and beauty.

WE ALL HAVE ADDICTIONS!

Our challenge is to not just to find recovery but to learn how to live life better because of it.

As humans on this diverse path of life, riddled with struggle, joy, triumph, addiction, transformation and everything in between, we also have an opportunity to FACE the pain of addiction that leads to overdose, and do so together.

It is in this spirit that we also honor those we’ve lost to addiction on this International Overdose Awareness Day.

We do not need to hide from the reality and impact of addiction (nor can we AFFORD to ignore it).

In this episode of Tattoos and Torah, Rabbi Iggy explore a range of ways we can make meaning in our life and meditate on the role of loss, death and the life we have.

If you are curious about what judaism and other spiritual wisdoms teach about death, loss, life and meanings then this episode is for you.
