Description

Kamal was born and raised in a rural village in Punjab, India. Number 5 of 8 kids. His father worked as a mason to support and feed the family. Poverty was part of daily living with only having basic clothes, shoes, school supplies, and barely enough food for the family. Kamal worked during schooling to help with family expenses.

Kamal's father won a voucher to come to the UK in 1963. His father worked there as a laborer in a foundry, earning enough money to bring the family to join him in 1968. In the meantime, 2 siblings died of a TB outbreak.

Here is Kamal's story of hope for his family and an opportunity to a better life.
